Hip Opening Workshop (Yoga Asanas)

Sunday, 28th December, 4:00PM-5:30PM

An Intelligent & Alignment-Based Approach to Deep Hip Mobility

The hips are one of the most complex and deeply held areas of the body—often storing tension, restriction, and unconscious holding patterns. This workshop offers a safe, progressive, and mindful exploration of hip-opening asanas, guided by anatomical understanding, alignment awareness, and breath.

Rather than chasing flexibility, this session focuses on building intelligent range of motion—learning how to enter, stay in, and exit postures with clarity, stability, and respect for the body’s signals.

This is an intensive yet supportive, practice-based workshop designed to help you approach deeper hip-opening postures with confidence, awareness, and sustainability.

What You Can Expect to Gain

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

• Understand how intermediate to advanced hip-opening asanas increase range of motion safely and sustainably
• Learn how to enter, hold, and exit poses with correct alignment—without forcing flexibility
• Gain clarity on common misalignments in hip-opening postures and how to correct them
• Learn intelligent modifications and variations to make challenging poses more accessible
• Understand how to adapt a posture when the body experiences discomfort, stiffness, or resistance
• Develop sensitivity to the difference between sensation and pain, and how to respond wisely
• Cultivate awareness of when to deepen a pose and when to soften, guided by the body’s signals
• Build confidence in exploring deeper asanas with intelligence, not pressure or strain

What the Session Includes

This workshop is a thoughtfully sequenced blend of movement, education, and integration, including:

• A progressive asana practice beginning with beginner-friendly preparatory movements, moving through intermediate transitions, and exploring selected advanced hip-opening postures
• Detailed guidance on the muscles involved in hip opening, including hip flexors, extensors, rotators, and adductors
• A clear understanding of how the hip joint functions and how to safely increase mobility
• Step-by-step breakdowns of how to approach deeper poses—even if the full expression of the posture is not accessible
• Exploration of variations, props, and transitions to support different bodies, abilities, and limitations
• Practical tools to recognize sensations versus pain and respond with awareness and self-regulation
• A calming closing sequence designed to settle the nervous system and help integrate the effects of deep hip opening, leaving you relaxed, grounded, and balanced
